Ragati Conservancy: Kamweti Forest Reserve
Located within Kamweti Forest Reserve, along the higher reaches of the Kamweti Route, with the Ragati River flowing along its doorstep, Ragati Conservancy is an enchanting alpine wonderland rhapsodized as a first-rate fly fishing spot, noted for its trout. Established in liaison with the Kenya Forest Service (KWS) covering 5,000-hectares consisted of the essence of afro-montane forest and afro-alpine heath on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya, at an altitude of 2200 ms to 3000 ms, this off-the-grid hidey hole deep in the forest is a swanky and restful getaway.
Having delighted in the crisp alpine air and magical calm, guests to the secluded Ragati Conservancy can enjoy a stay at either Ndongoro Log Cabin or Kichachu Tented Camp, from where they can explore Mount Kenya National Park along Kamweti Route, enjoy fly fishing, walking safaris, visit nearby waterfalls or engage in some of its noble projects centered on preservation and protection of this fine ecosystem. The only safe way to get Ragati is by 4X4 via the Ragati Forest Station – 20 km from Karatina off the Karatina University Road, just before Karatina town.
