12. Eldoret Golf Club

Across from the turnoff to the B54 Eldoret-Kaptagat-Nyaru Road is the road to Elgon View Estate and Eldoret Golf Club. Launched in 1924 as a members only club (currently at about 1,200 members) it is situated in beautiful grounds just outside Eldoret Town, on what was once farmland. It has a vibrant clubhouse, with stocked bar and restaurant services, 32 cottage style en-suite rooms, gym, tennis courts, squash court, badminton court, swimming pool, gymnasium and sauna. Its crown-jewel is a well designed nine-hole golf course. It is played to a par 71. “The main highlight of the course at Eldoret is the ever present River Sosiani that snakes its way across almost all holes; from the opening hole where it lines the right hand side of the fairway to the third, the long par-4, where the river guards the front of the green, giving little room for wayward approach shots into this green”. The Club is situated along Nandi Road (off A104 Eldoret-Nairobi Road) opposite Eldoret Hospice, and about 6 kms from the main town.
